Toilet waste disposal stations

The City of Stockholm provides many free toilet waste disposal stations. They are available to the city's boat clubs, private recreational boat owners and boats passing through Stockholm.

The toilet waste pumps are easy to find and simple to use. All stations are connected to the municipal sewer system.

A better environment

Good access to toilet waste disposal facilities for recreational boats is important. By using them, we can all help reduce the amount of nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus entering the water from toilet waste, which would otherwise contribute to eutrophication. It also helps reduce the spread of bacteria and pharmaceutical residues into coastal waters and onto beaches.

Since 1 April 2015, it has been illegal throughout Sweden to discharge toilet waste from recreational boats into the sea, lakes or inland waterways. The ban applies to all recreational boats except those with protected cultural heritage status.
