Boating

Stockholm residents enjoy spending time on the water. There are more than 40,000 recreational boats in Stockholm and 260 boat clubs affiliated with the Saltsjön-Mälarens Boating Association. In addition, the City of Stockholm provides more than 470 public boat moorings.

Rent a boat mooring

The City of Stockholm rents out boat moorings for recreational boats from 15 April to 15 October. There are currently no vacant boat moorings available. Here you can find out how the waiting list works.

Toilet waste disposal stations

The City of Stockholm provides free toilet waste disposal stations. The stations are available to the city's boat clubs, private recreational boat owners and boats passing through Stockholm.

Boat pick-up and drop-off points

Stockholm Ports provides a number of boat pick-up and drop-off points for both commercial and private boats. These points can be used, for example, to pick up and drop off passengers. The maximum mooring time is 10 minutes.

Locks, quays and bridges

Stockholm Ports operates and maintains quays and harbour facilities and is responsible for locks and opening bridges. It regulates the water level in Lake Mälaren using locks and sluice gates. You can find the current water level on the Stockholm Ports website.
