Fishing permit
Some types of fishing require a fishing permit. For example, you need a permit if you want to troll for zander, ice fish for pike using dead bait, or catch crayfish.
Fishing in lakes, or using fishing methods that are not covered by Sweden's right to free public access fishing, requires a fishing permit.
The City of Stockholm offers the TDA Fishing Permit. It is valid for trolling, rod trolling, tip-up fishing (ice fishing with dead bait), crayfish fishing, and fishing with multiple rods in many areas of Lake Mälaren and the Stockholm archipelago.
Buy a TDA Fishing Permit
You can buy a TDA Fishing Permit through the external service iFiske. It is available both as a website and as a mobile app.
How to buy a TDA Fishing Permit
1. Create an account with iFiske.
2. Choose the TDA permit level that suits your needs. Each level includes a clear overview of the waters where it is valid. Information about the different TDA permit levels is available further down this page and on iFiske.
3. TDA permits 1–3 are valid for 365 days from the date of purchase and allow fishing in more than 70 different fishing waters in Lake Mälaren and the Stockholm archipelago.
You can also buy the TDA 4 permit (crayfish fishing permit) and the TDA 5 permit (coarse fishing permit) through iFiske.
Included areas
Visit either of the external services, iFiske or Fiskekartan, to see all the areas covered by the TDA Fishing Permit. Both services also provide GPS coordinates for navigation.
On Fiskekartan, you can also view seal and bird protection areas.
Always check iFiske or Fiskekartan before you go fishing. They provide the most up-to-date information and are updated regularly.
Download TDA maps
Here you can download all TDA maps for Lake Mälaren and the Stockholm archipelago in GPX format. These maps can be used with most modern navigation devices, chart plotters, and web-based nautical charts.
The fishing waters are divided into two map collections, each containing several map areas: one for Lake Mälaren and one for the Baltic Sea.
